Order follow-up with a personal touch
Jo, the face behind Pedeo’s customer service
Anyone who has ever placed an order with Pedeo will be familiar with the name Jo Depoorter. However, chances are you’ll only know him by name. He is responsible for communicating with you to ensure that your projects run smoothly, and that your deliveries are made on time and according to your detailed instructions. That is why we would like to introduce Jo to you personally.
From order to shipment
Tracking orders is one of Jo’s most important tasks. Jo: ‘When the sales and design engineers finalise a new project, it comes to me as soon as the first order for series production is placed. I make sure that the delivery date is agreed with the customer and that the order is included in our production schedule. And if the customer manages the transport himself, as is often the case with foreign companies, I provide him with the required practical information and documentation.’
Jo mainly plays a coordinating role in all this, as he carries out many of these tasks in consultation with colleagues. But customer contact? Jo almost always takes care of that himself.
Monitoring stock positions
Pedeo also manages stocks for various customers. As soon as the stock of a particular part falls below an agreed level, Jo contacts the customer to schedule the next production run. This ensures that there are always sufficient products ready for delivery.
Jo: ‘Of course, most of this is automated. But I think it’s important to check in personally. It makes the job interesting, and I notice that our customers really appreciate it too. There are always details or agreements that need a little extra attention.’

Automation with a human touch
Although Jo graduated as an accountant, he has always consciously chosen a job where he can make a difference to people. And this commercial-administrative role in customer service is perfect for that.
‘Even though most of the communication is by email or phone, this works so much easier when you know the person on the other end.’
Jo is also involved in the local community outside of Pedeo. For almost 20 years, he’s been coaching a youth team at the local football club, KFC Petegem, not far from Oudenaarde..
And human contact is also why Jo always tries to drop by when one of his customers has an appointment at Pedeo, to get to know him personally. Although more and more appointments are now taking place via Teams, which Jo finds challenging, at least you now know the person behind the emails and phone calls.😊
